Roaring Tiger Band

The Roaring Tiger Band is the musical ambassador for Commerce ISD.  It is made up of musicians in grades 9-12. Students participate in Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, solo & ensemble, and the ATSSB Region and All-State auditions.  They also have opportunities for leadership in both the Marching Band Leadership Corps and the Band Council.


Commerce Middle School Ensembles
Honor Band
The Honor Band is composed of 7th and 8th graders, and is the top performing ensemble at Commerce Middle School. Membership for the group is determined by audition. This ensemble meets daily during school hours with weekly after school sectionals in the spring.  Members of the Honor Band prepare and perform pieces through out the year that continue to develop their technical and musical skills. The Honor Band performs both a winter and spring concert, at all CMS pep-rallies, they compete in the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest, and the Soundpost Music Festival. Students also develop their individual playing skills by participating in the All-Region Auditions.


Intermediate Band
The Intermediate Band is composed of 7th and 8th graders, with the goal of developing the musical and technical abilities of all its members.  This ensemble meets daily during school hours. Members of the Intermediate Band prepare and perform pieces through out the year that continue to develop their technical and musical skills. The Intermediate Band performs both a winter and spring concert, at most CMS pep-rallies, and they compete in the Soundpost Music Festival. Students also develop their individual playing skills by participating in the All-Region Auditions.

Beginner Band

The beginner Band is the 6th grade performing ensemble at Commerce Middle School. The beginner band is broken up into three classes, the woodwind class, and the low brass class and the trumpet, percussion class. Students in the beginner band develop fundamental musical and technical skills on their instrument. The classes will join together for both a winter and spring concert, and  to perform at the Soundpost Music Festival. Beginner students also perform in the CMS Solo Competition.
